Antique Italian Silver Angel Cherub Cradle Protector Medal – Medaglia di argento da culla, c1950  

Stunning Antique Italian pendant medal made in Florence in the Fifties by the firm Bonifazi Donatello.

This kind of medals (protector medals) were used on cradles or prams to protect infants. They were appreciated birth gifts, as well now they are appreciated and attractive collectable items.

The medal itself, which bears a lovely repoussé cherub looking at sky with a hand on his chin, is surrounded by a beautifully  six-parted frame, bearing a loop to insert ribbon.

It is in excellent condition, with no dents, repairs or restoring.

It is hallmarked on both sides 800 (silver .800) and 301 FI (Bonifazi Donatello Firenze) 

Bellissima medaglia da culla in argento realizzata a Firenze dalla ditta Bonifazi Donatello. Al centro un angioletto che guarda verso il cielo tenendosi il mento con una mano, e all’esterno una cornice esapartita di eccezionale fattura. Marcata 800 e 301FI (argentiere Bonifazi).
