A rare large pair of salad servers Mappin Brothers c 1860’s in the Fiddle Thread pattern
These beautiful and hard to find salad servers bear the marks of Mappin Brothers with the “sun” trademark.
They are 27 cm long and approx 5 cm wide. They weigh 223 grams in total.
Both are crested.
Very good condition. The spoon has no wear and presents only signs of use. The fork has some wear on the back and at the edges of one or two prongs. Both the bowls are in very good condition, with minor scatches.
Mappin Brothers, Sheffield & London, founded in 1810 by Joseph Mappin, became Joseph Mappin & Co in 1841 and Mappin Brothers in 1846. In 1902 the firm became Mappin & Webb.
