Antique Silver Plate sauce Boat, Jays of Oxford Street, 1890’s

A top quality antique silver plate sauce boat, marked by Jays, 142-144 Oxford Street and bearing the item number 9215, made between 1887 and 1897.

It has a beautiful handle and threaded decoration.

Very good condition, no wear, just few signs of use.

James Jay was active since 1867 at 366 Essex Road. In 1887 purchased stock and premises of Richard Attenborough at 142-144 Oxford Street. In 1897 the firm became Jay Ltd, and in 1904 Jay, Richard Attenborough & Co Ltd. The business was closed after 1950
